Denver: RTD’s West Rail Line sees glitches on first full test run (Denver Post)

January 4, 2013 – The West Rail Line connecting Denver and Jefferson County is set to open eight months ahead of schedule, but electrical glitches delayed that momentum Thursday, causing the first full test run to start 80 minutes late. Jim Starling, Regional Transportation District (Aa2 / 759136QN7) project manager for the West Rail Line, said the train leaving from the new Decatur-Federal station failed to leave on time because of faulty signal equipment that caused crossing gates to randomly go down along the corridor. Construction of the 12.1-mile track — from the Auraria campus to the Jefferson County Government Center in Golden — began in 2008, said West Rail Line spokesperson Lindsey Smith.
