December 26, 2012 – With less than a week left now until a historic merger of two towns (Princeton Borough & Princeton Township), longtime residents and officials past and present find themselves marching toward a well-planned but still unknown future as a consolidated municipality. All of the paper and preparation becomes reality and action at the turn of the year and officials believe they are as ready as they can be. Even decades ago, consolidation was a heated affair that spawned slogans, political cartoons and a slew of editorials. The opposition, back then and last year, saw consolidation as a township takeover, a loss of jobs and an unnecessary step — an attempt to fix something that wasn’t broken.
