Home values rising fast in Metro Detroit, but from the bottom (MLive)

December 26, 2012 – The latest S&P/Case-Schiller Home Price Index, released Wednesday morning, shows that residential real estate values continue to climb rapidly in the Detroit area. Home prices in Metro Detroit rose 10.0 percent year-over-year in October, making it the second fastest growing area in the 20-city index, behind only Phoenix, where values grew 21.7 percent. Across all 20 cities on the index, home values increased 4.3 percent annually in October. Twelve of the 20 cities saw declines in values during the month, including Chicago and New York.
