Judge tells emergency manager, Detroit school board to keep trying (Detroit News)

December 22, 2012 – A judge on Friday ordered the Detroit Board of Education and Emergency Financial Manager Roy Roberts to resolve what conflicts they can and return to court next month to let the courts decide the rest. Wayne County Circuit Judge Annette Berry met with attorneys from both sides Friday morning in her chambers to discuss a list each made of disagreements that have arisen in the battle over day-to-day academic and financial matters at Detroit Public Schools. Under Public Act 72 and a court ruling in August, Roberts has financial authority over matters while the elected school board has power over academics.
