Environmental report done for Riverside County solar project (Press-Enterprise)

December 20, 2012 – Federal land stewards on Thursday, Dec. 20, announced the release of comprehensive environmental study for the proposed McCoy Solar Energy Project, a 750-megawatt development proposed on public land near Blythe. Covering 4,400 acres, it would be one of the largest solar energy projects in California. “The McCoy project reflects this administration’s groundbreaking efforts to (establish) a renewable energy economy on public land,” U.S. Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar said in a news release. If approved, McCoy will be among 34 renewable energy projects that the Obama administration has approved for construction on public land since 2009.
