University Hospitals reaches $1 billion fundraising goal, adds $500 million to target (Akron Beacon Journal)

December 14, 2012 – University Hospitals (A2 / 67756CAT5) wants to expand throughout the region by adding another $500 million to its fundraising goal after reaching the initial $1 billion target a year ahead of schedule. The Cleveland-based health system announced Wednesday night that a $32.5 million gift from the Rainbow Babies & Children’s Foundation pushed its Discover the Difference Campaign over the $1 billion mark. The new plans call for continuing to expand UH’s services by constructing new facilities throughout the region, but no locations have been confirmed, UH spokesman Mike Ferrari said. The funds have been used to boost research, create new endowed chairs and funds and support more than two dozen construction projects.
