December 13, 2012 – The state Thruway Authority hasn’t made much of a case for its own relevance of late. Complaints of financial mismanagement; a much-criticized proposal to hike tolls on most trucks 45 percent; even an inability to hold previously scheduled meetings — all have raised questions about the agency’s competence. And all add to the case being made by Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb to move the authority under the auspices of the state Department of Transportation. The measure deserves serious consideration.
