December 7, 2012 – Detroit’s leaders must know by now that Gov. Rick Snyder has run out of patience with their dawdling, whining and obstructionism. They should get on board now. The governor has given Detroit Mayor Dave Bing and the City Council every opportunity to lead the restructuring of their own city. Instead, they’ve wasted time bickering over details, delaying votes on critical issues and allowing the city’s corporation counsel to continue filing lawsuits to undo the consent agreement with the state that both the mayor and council signed. At least 14 lawsuits, filed by unions and the corporation counsel, are pending against the consent agreement. Clearly, all hands were not on deck to implement the only plan anyone offered for saving Detroit.
