The suit also claims the Big East owes the university millions after failing to charge other schools the fee to leave the sports league. Syracuse, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, TCU and Notre Dame have left the league within the last two years. Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame are leaving after this school year ends, for the ACC; West Virginia and TCU bolted for the Big 12 last summer. “The new withdrawal fee arbitrarily applies to some, but not all, of the Big East football schools, and the effect is to penalize certain members if they seek to withdraw,” the suit, filed in Middlesex County, states.
