A brief history of blue laws in Bergen County (NJ dot com)

November 9, 2012 – In Hurricane Sandy’s wake, we’ve been covering an ongoing legal battle over Gov. Chris Christie’s suspension of the county-wide ban on certain retail sales in Bergen County. Bergen is the only of New Jersey’s 21 counties to restrict Sunday shopping, and every few years efforts to repeal the so-called blue laws crop up. Here’s a brief history of Bergen County’s blue laws, gathered from the archives of The Star-Ledger, The New York Times and other resources.
